Gillian Lynne Theatre’s production of “Crazy for You” is a beautiful, humorous, and gloriously enjoyable musical full of wonderful Gershwin melodies. It’s the kind of live performance that can take you from a state of sadness and depression to one of joy and renewed energy. You’ll get completely involved in the acts because of how realistically they reflect real human feelings. Bobby Child has to choose between pursuing his dreams of becoming a famous performer and taking over the family bank. He goes to Deadrock, Nevada, against his will to foreclose on a theater’s mortgage, just to fall in love with Polly, the daughter of the theater’s owner.
Bobby wants to show Polly that he can be trusted, so he decides to put on a show with dancers from New York City’s glamorous Zangler Follies to save the theater, bring life back to the town, and hopefully win Polly’s love. The Crazy for You production values (shading, lighting, acting, and dialogue) will force you to express your good feelings. The event will begin on June 24, 2023, and end on January 20, 2024. The running time, with intermission included, is 2 hours and 45 minutes. No infants or toddlers will be permitted.
